The shows will include a raffle to benefit the Southern Fried Burlesque Fest. Each raffle will give the winner a chance to spin the Wheel of Burlesque (yes, we have an actual wheel to spin) to claim your prize. Prizes will all be worth $5 or more and will include anything from t-shirts, pasties, autographed photos, adult novelties, tickets to future shows, etc... Raffle tickets will be $5 for one or 3 for $10.

As Wednesday is a week night, the shows will always start promptly at 10pm and be done before midnight to make sure that everyone that needs to get up to go to work in the morning can. For those that don’t need to get up first thing in the morning The Shelter will be slinging drinks and playing music until last call.

Syrens of the South is at it again with bringing you the most amazing performers from all over the world to Atlanta, GA!  This time we're pleased to team up with New York's Bunny Love and RunAround Sue as part of their Southern Exposure Tour!

International performers and burlesque darlings of NYC, Bunny Love and RunAround Sue are missing their southern roots. With a few costumes, a handful of pasties, a bit of glitter, two guitars and a uke these two burlqy babes are hitting the road and joining forces with the Souths' most sizzling shows to spread the burlesque love.

Bunny Love grew up in the sultry city of New Orleans with bourbon in her baby bottle and bump n' grind music in her head. As a young girl she heard the call of the stage and she answered, making her way to New York City to study theater and dance. In New York she experienced the gambit from classical theater to the avant garde, until finally discovering that what she really likes best is creating her own works for theater, film and nightclubs. Often called "The Moving Violation" and "The Make it Happen Girl", RunAround Sue currently produces and performs regularly in NYC, Brooklyn, Massachusetts, Virginia, and Washington DC. She has had the honor of performing at the New York Burlesque Festival, Slipper Room, Starshine Burlesque, Sweet and Nasty Burlesque, and many other enchanting venues on both coasts and on both sides of the Mason Dixon line. Syrens of the South is known for putting on amazing shows and bringing in the best performers from all over the country - now they’re taking the next step and producing the First Annual Southern Fried Burlesque Fest!  The festival offers a full weekend of shows, classes, and special events. For example, Syrens will be kicking off the festival with the Atlanta Premiere of the award-winning documentary "Dirty Martini and the New Burlesque", including a Q&A after the screening with Dirty Martini and Director Gary Beeber.
  
Friday Night brings you The Free Range Burlesque International Showcase, featuring performances by Miss Exotic World 2004 and No. 1 in the "Burlesque Top 50" for 2009 and 2010, Dirty Martini; The Headmistress of the New York School of Burlesque, Jo Boobs; Burlesque Legends Tiffany Carter and Gyna Rose Jewel, as well as other amazing performers from all over the world!

Saturday Night is the main event: The Southern Fried Burlesque Pageant has performers competing for Best Duet, Best Variety, and the first ever Southern Fried Burlesque Queen!  After the awards ceremony, you can let your hair down at the Dirty South Showcase with performers from all over the Southeast, headlined by The “Godfather” of Atlanta Burlesque, Torchy Taboo!

There will be additional panels, events, and classes on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for all skill levels.  Whether you want to learn from the beginning or fine tune your craft, this festival will have activities for all levels and aspects of burlesque, including How to Make Headdresses, How to Be a Pin-up Model, Make-up and Hair tutorials, Burlesque Business and Marketing classes, MC/Hosting instruction, and Dance classes from seasoned burlesque performers, teachers, and legends, so you can leave the festival with all the tools you need to be the next Burlesque Superstar!  Don’t worry guys -all genders are welcome to attend classes!

The Dangerous Curves Ahead: Burlesque On the Go-Go Fall Tour will be the follow-up to their incredibly successful 2010 coast-to-coast, 23-city Spring Tour including Los Angeles, Chicago, Minneapolis, Madison, Denver, Las Vegas, Dallas, Kansas City, Albuquerque, and Richmond. I am sure many of you have seen the Official Press Release sent out by Talloolah Love about her leaving Syrens of the South. If not I have copied and pasted it below so you may read her letter. I know that this may be a shock to many of you but the announcement has been around a year in the making. For personal reasons she is needing to take her leave but she will be greatly missed. She has been an amazing dance partner, co-producer, press manager and friend for many years now and for that I will always be grateful. I am sad to say that I talked her into staying longer then perhaps was best for her because I was trying to find a replacement to help run Syrens, I realize now that there will never be a replacement for her role and it'll take 3-4 people to get the same amount of love and dedication that she had for this project. After her break, if she ever decides to come to a Syrens event as an audience member, independent performer or guest teacher she will be welcomed with open arms and an open heart. 

I am not going to lie, my first instinct was to shut down Syrens as it has been overwhelming since she stepped down in January as a daily manager and went to only helping with the events themselves and occasional guidance as a sounding board and someone to proof the press releases as we all know I can't spell. Multiple people have contacted me since her announcement to offer their help and their desire to keep Syrens of the South going. I will need to take a break after we perform at the Art-B-Q in June to regroup, discuss what needs to be done hopefully we'll be back on track by our third anniversary show scheduled for August. As of right now I do not know if there will be a Mechanical Masquerade in July, please give me until June 1st to make that decision.

We will be moving out of our studio space so I do hope to see many of you at the Yard Sale on May 23rd. There will be costumes, props, a small refrigerator, shelving, clothing racks, fabric for $2 a yard, trims, rolls of ribbon, appliqués, patterns, etc.... There will also be the last of the House of Le Roux items that we commissioned including corsets, dresses, and lots of period and pirate garb, which will all be on clearance as we will not have enough room to store everything.

Thank you, Talloolah, for everything and know you will be greatly missed. I wish you the best in all of your future endeavors and hope you find happiness. You are an amazing person and performer, I hope you never forget that.

Hello All,

This is my public declaration of my severance from Syrens of the South Productions, LLC. It’s been an amazing three years and the direction Katherine is taking it is beautiful and amazing. I only wish that I could be a part of it. But as with all good things, they must come to an end.

Due to personal reasons, I have chosen to take this very difficult path and leave something that has taken much of my blood sweat and tears. It is with a very heavy heart that I make this decision everyone, and I will miss the organization very much, the students who have come to their own, and the performers who have made me laugh, made me cry, and made me a better performer in the process. I will be fulfilling my performance obligations for the next two months and then taking a breather before considering going back to the stage as a fully independent performer. This will be the first time in my career that I have ever considered being fully independent, and I may decide that running the Burlesque and Cabaret Club is enough as of right now, I do not know.

My love and adoration to the Atlanta Burlesque Scene knows no bounds… we are truly blessed to be surrounded by such talent, such support, and such an amazing learning environment, not just from the performers, but the photographers, the bands, the fans… all of it! My heart swells with love for everyone and I hope that even if I am no longer a Syren that everyone will still come to the meetings, and shows and have a beer with me! Or share in a good gin and tonic if you’ve a mind!

Ladies and gentlemen, we will be departing the station shortly, be sure your luggage is safely secured and your goggles are on tight, as the Syrens of the South Productions embark on the greatest Mechanical Masquerade yet, the Great Expedition!  The vessel leaves the station Saturday May 8th, and it is a trip bound for adventure and excitement.


From the deep jungles of Borneo to the sands of Mars and beyond, this dance event will be a thrilling exploration into the growing Steampunk scene.  This subculture of art, fashion, and music has its roots in blending the Neo-Victorian and Edwardian, with the science, history, and imagination of what could have been.  This particular sojourn will feature musical guide Doctor Q, who has promised to take your ears “around the world in 80 minutes” to make the good Jules Verne proud.


In addition to music, this soiree will be hosted by the dazzling Talloolah Love and will feature an array of vendors and artists, dancers, and even a costume contest to highlight the best these Atlantean aethernauts can do.  Be you a Venusian trader, bush explorer, rogue adventurer, sky pirate, or just curious about what these steampunks are about, be sure to head to Little Tree Studios in Avondale Estates.  So heed the Syren’s call and come out to this amazing affair, be it by airship, submersible, Columbiad space gun, or even on the back of an elephant.  This wild safari begins at 8pm and is limited by nothing but the imagination, so buy your ticket now and climb aboard!
